Varcoe, Captain Vic W.

VARCOE , Captain Vic W.
February 10, 1944 - April 30, 2024
My darling husband has lost his battle with an aggressive cancer after such a courageous fight, and the exemplary care he received at Delta Hospital.
Survived by his loving wife, Patty of 34 years, his adoring sister, Carmen (Ed 2019), supportive brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Doug and Billie, nephews Dan (Delana) and family, David (Marissa) and Tink, and dear childhood family friends, Bob and Dauna. Vic was predeceased by his parents, Maurice (2002) and Maizie (2008), and favourite Granny and Granddad Campbell.
Born and raised in Victoria, Vic had a long and successful career in the marine industry, spanning almost 50 years starting with Island Tug & Barge (1963). At age 24 he was very proud to receive his Masters Ticket in 1969 (the same year we met). Vic was passionate about his role with Seaspan Int'l and "his barges", and being part of Washington Marine Group until his retirement in 2011 as Director of Marine Services. Fishing trips with Ab of A & A Trading were always memorable, with lots of fun and very little sleep.
Golfing with his "buddies" was an enjoyable hobby which was usually followed by "the coldest Corona in a glass with 2 limes". On one particular game he got a birdie, that he mentioned numerous times!
Although Vic and I travelled near and far to other countries, many with Doug and Billie, Kauai and River Cruises were our favourites, along with good old Canada.
Vic took pride in his beautiful garden and delighted in watching the birds arriving for brekkie. He was truly an animal lover, especially his dogs who faithfully followed him (for treats) and he always had a supply ready for Ripley across the street.
I know Vic would be pleased if you wished to help the Delta Community Animal Shelter he supported. https://www.delta.ca/services/delta-community-animal-shelter
Per Vic's wishes, there will be no service.
Vic will be sorely missed and
always remembered.
